This 60 second clip was taken from a 1938 reel shot on 9.5mm film. It shows pre-war Lewes in East Sussex as taken on a hand cranked home movie camera.
The film has been digitised from the original cine film and gently de-grained.
Some of the original marks were left in, to keep the authentic feel of the footage.
This frame has been enlarged from the 9.5mm scan and shows Pinyoun’s Bakery, prior to processing with grain reduction software.
